High School 2009-2010 Introduction to Chemistry This first course in physical chemistry is intended to provide an introduction to the theory of matter and a first pass through the fundamentals of molecular theory and the algebra of chemical reactions. Specific topics will include ideal gas laws, kinetics, acids and bases, and the basic theory of orbital structure. Laboratory work will be a key component of this course. Text (2009-2010): Zumdahl and Zumdahl, Chemistry. Advanced Biology This detailed study of molecular and cellular biology will focus on the basic processes and structures of living organisms as well as the consequences these structures have for macroscopic phenomena. This course will cover the syllabus attached to the Advanced Placement examination. Intensive laboratory work will complement the theoretical material. Text (2009-2010): Campbell and Reece, Biology (AP edition) Advanced Chemistry This is a second year course in the theoretical foundations of physical chemistry. Material will include atomic structure, stochiometry, calculations involving energy and heat transfer, and a detailed study of basic chemical reactions. This course will cover the syllabus mandated by the Advanced Placement examination. Laboratory work will be an extensive and detailed complement to the theoretical material. Text (2009-2010): Brown et. al., Chemistry: The Central Science |
